GBA's team of qualified roof consultants recognizes the importance of energy-efficient design in protecting our finite natural resources. We have formed an in-house group of architects, engineers, and roof consultants called FocusGreen who strive to incorporate the principles of green or sustainable design into the majority of our projects. Many members of our FocusGreen team are LEED Accredited Professionals through the US Green Building Council.

In Chicago and other large metropolitan areas, laws have been passed to reduce the urban "heat island" effect – higher urban temperatures that increase air conditioning requirements and raise pollution levels. Individual owners are looking at more economical and environmentally friendly solutions, including energy-efficient new roofing materials and systems.

We continue to train our staff on the latest green design standards, products, and practices, from cool roofing technology to green roofs – roofs that are covered with a dense mat of growing plants.
