Why green design? The answer is simple. An increasing number of corporate leaders and public officials have committed their companies and their communities to the principles of sustainability. They are adopting green practices and utilizing green technologies in their facilities and in their public works.
As a result, we recently formed GBA FocusGreen. Focus Green is dedicated to innovative design inspired by a commitment to environmental stewardship. It represents our interest in pursuing sustainability in our designs and in our business.
FocusGreen embraces the principles of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). It is directed by a staff of LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) representing all of GBA’s major disciplines: architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering. FocusGreen helps owners achieve their goals of sustainability.
As a member of the US Green Building Council (USGBC), FocusGreen designs buildings and other improvement projects that conserve our finite resources, reduce air and water pollution and solid waste, and preserve the natural areas and habitats that spawn biodiversity.
The bottom line: Green programs, practices, and projects are vital to the future of our environment and our economy.
